Future Plans for Adventures in Odyssey Fans!
Friday, April 19, 2013

So we were going to save this news for our next podcast... But since our schedules won't line up for the next little bit, and it's just so exciting, we're posting it here.

A little while ago, between Bren and myself (I'm known as Eugene in the online AIO world, by the way), we were able to discover some super cool news about upcoming plans for Adventures in Odyssey!

It all started a few months ago when I was searching the Focus on the Family job listings for openings that related to Adventures in Odyssey, as I often do. Then, I found something that looked interesting. "What's this?" I said to myself. It was, in fact, a listing for a new position called "Odyssey Club Producer."

Now, I know that there is no such thing as an "Odyssey Club" at present. This was completely new information to me. So I clicked the link to read through the details as I was quite intrigued.

The job description said that the Odyssey Club Producer would be responsible to organize and coordinate various teams to produce and provide a cohesive and engaging club member experience. What does this mean? I think it's kinda obvious... Focus on the Family is creating an official club for fans of Adventures in Odyssey! Isn't that awesome?

So after I got over my initial excitement, I continued to read the listing. Further down in the "duties and responsibilities" section, it mentioned the upcoming A.C.T.S. contest several times. However, at that time the contest hadn't been announced, so I had no clue what it was. But from the listing, it appears that the new producer will be working to develop web quests as a part of the contest. Not sure what that will look like, but it's something to look out for as the contest draws closer.

Another interesting point comes later in the document where it says, "Works in tandem with Executive Producer..." (I'm assuming the executive producer of Adventures in Odyssey, also known as Dave Arnold.) "to brainstorm and develop storylines for the club dramas." Wait... "Club dramas?" Does this mean that they will be producing a mini-series exclusive to club members? I kinda like that idea!

It also mentions developing films and documentaries. The documentaries will likely show what happens behind-the-scenes of Odyssey. As for the films, I'll leave that to your own imagination.

Once I finished looking over the entire listing, I started to hyper-ventilate. (Not really...) The sheer awesomeness was just so... awesome! In the days following my find, I was looking out for other clues about this new club.

Around that time, the Official Odyssey Podcast released a special "ask the producers" episode. In it, Odyssey producers Dave and Paul mentioned something new coming towards the end of the summer; maybe in autumn. I think that this Odyssey Club is what they were referring to in that conversation. If it is, then this next season of Odyssey will be taken to a new level with all of this fun and engaging stuff.

Well, that's basically it. But before you go and shout this news in the streets, I have one more thing that makes this even better!

I was talking with Bren a few weeks later (near the end of March, I think), and he mentioned that Brock left his position in marketing and had become some type of producer for Odyssey. We both kinda thought that Brock doesn't seem the audio-engineering type. So we were trying to figure out what he might be doing in his new producer position. Just then, something in my mind clicked these two bits of information together.

I couldn't believe what Bren and I had discovered! Not only will there be a new Odyssey Club in the near future, but the perfect person for the job will be making it happen! Brock Eastman is the new (and first) Odyssey Club Producer! How awesome is that?

Anyway, I'll leave you with a screenshot of the original job listing.

The End Of An Era?
Friday, April 27, 2012

From about the year 2000 or so, fan sites have been a big part of the AIO community. Names such as AIO HQ, The Odyssey Scoop, and The Soda Fountian come to mind. Close behind that was The Unofficial Podcast, which sparked a wave of podcasts. It can be tough but also a great feeling to know you are providing something for the fans.

With the last hiatus over, AIO has turned to social sites such as Twitter and Facebook. However, it also seems that the fan sites don't have that edge anymore. Now I am not saying it's bad for them to push their product but it is harder for sites like TWEP to provide that inside scoop for you. Which makes you wonder if the era of providing fans with new info has come to an end.

Feel free to post your thoughts on our Facebook fan page.

25th Birthday Bash Info
Thurday, Feburary 9, 2012

We're back. I am sure you guys miss us and we miss hearing from you guys. So, keep those e-mails coming. In other news, more information about the live show came out. As well as details about a contest for the younger fans. However that has also cause some confusion as to what is really going to happen for the 25th birthday bash. Nathan has given us some details. I will share a portion with you. If I gave all the details that would leave them with nothing to say. Here's a basic breakdown.

"The show in June in Dallas is the big event. It will be much like the event in Colorado Springs in 2008. We’ll be recording a live show, there will be a Q & A with the actors, and probably an autograph signing, and other special things going on. It will also be a big production and exciting for fans.

The show in November is smaller and is intended mainly to choose the winner for the Get in the Show contest. There will be a couple of actors here, but not the whole team. We aren’t planning on producing a full live Odyssey show. We expect that the event will mainly be attended by locals rather than a worldwide audience."

I am sure they will release more info in the coming days. The best we can say is keep your eyes open. Though it does leave us with a question. If Matt or myself can go to Dallas or Colorado, would you want us to either podcast about it or blog about it? Drop us an e-mail and let us know. Until next time, remember that the best is yet to come.

College Writer's Scholarship Contest
Friday, September 2, 2011

The AIO team has come out with a new contest that I think is absolutely awesome. They are doing a scholarship contest. In the past they have said that they couldn't accept scripts. However, you must be enrolled in college to enter. To find out more click here.

As of tomorrow, we will be 4 weeks away from the airing of Wooton Knows Best.Speaking of album 54, contrary to what AIO Wiki or Tyndale says, there will not be a map of Whit's End in 54. Keep tuned to TWEP. Matt and I should be recording in a few weeks so watch for that.

Album 54 and New Guide
Thursday, August 4, 2011

Well, I got an e-mail from Nathan on Monday regarding the airing of the first episode of 54 and some info on the new guide he is working on. They haven't decided on an exact date for the new season yet, but it will likely be on or around the first weekend in October for the first episode. He also noted that the MP3 downloads will be available next month.

In regards to the guides, Nathan noted that the latest he had heard was that the guide is that it is 656 pages long plus a 16 page photo insert (which is could change). They are still working on a release date but it could be close to the end of next year.

Stay tuned to the site, we will be having a podcast most likely next month in regards to Album 54 and we will bring you new info as we get it.

Album 55 Information
Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Seeing as I haven't blogged lately, I figured I would bring you up to speed on what the AIO team is up to. According to Nathan Hoobler, they are working on writing for album 55 and what is so interesting about it is that, they will be recording  two three-part stories at our session in July. Which sounds like the AIO I remember. Album 50 had three 2 part episodes. Album 49 had one 3 parter and two 2 parters. I could go on but you get the idea.

Also, stay tuned for the upcoming interview with Paul McCusker. You still have till 12 PM CST on Thursday, June 30, 2011 to submit your questions. So be sure you get them in.
